Children’s Protection
Under some circumstances, outside government authorities will intervene themselves into the family unit in the name of best interest of the children. Typically, this agency is Children’s Protective Services (CPS). As a parent, intervention from CPS can and will be a major and sometimes life changing event. CPS has broad authority to intervene in the family when it comes to children, including removing children from the home and placing them in foster care. Often dealing with CPS is difficult, particularly in these times of budget cutbacks and limited staff. Further, CPS will expect major turnarounds in parents and parenting skills and they may make broad allegations that require special attention. Approaching a complicated parenting issue that CPS has intervened in without experienced legal representation in Dependency Court is sometimes risky, futile and frustrating. Further, the entire process has its own rules of procedure and its own juvenile dependency code with abbreviations for complicated court procedures. An experienced attorney can be extremely helpful in obtaining the best possible outcome and for reunifying parents and children in the soonest possible time. At Bowman and Associates, Robert Bowman prides himself in becoming a zealous advocate for parents who seek prompt reunification with their children. Working with parenting classes, counselors and life changes, Mr. Bowman has been able to achieve positive results for families.
